A subdivision plat is the recorded document that the title company uses to identify the location of a piece of property being purchased. A lot number is typically assigned to each lot located within a subdivision. A typical property description would be: “Lot 8 of Woodford Estates”.
The subdivision plat shows the lot dimensions and other pertinent data that assists the surveyor in identifying how much land is owned and where that land is located.
